However, since scholars from around the world had set up various observation tools, I tried to walk along paths as much as possible.

太平洋から上がる湿気を含んだ空気が石の表面で結露すると生き物が生まれる

海沿いの都市イキケまで飛行機で飛ぶ。食材を買い、800メートルアタカマ砂漠を4wdで上がる。そこにカトリカのリサーチセンターがある。ホカチョという空気中の水蒸気から水をとる正方形の布で15000リットルの真水が常に準備されている。完全なオフグリッド施設である。We fly to the coastal city of Iquique, buy some food, and then drive 800 meters up into the Atacama Desert in a 4WD. There we find the Católica research center. 15,000 liters of fresh water is always kept on hand using a hokacho, a square piece of fabric that captures water from the air's moisture. It's a completely off-grid facility.

最後のアパートに引っ越した。設計はスミルハン・ラディッチ。100m2以上ある。家賃は少し高いけれどm2単価は最初のところの５分の1である。寝室シャワーは２セットあるのを初めて知った。駐車場も使えるから車で遊びにきてください（笑）。I've moved into my final apartment. It was designed by Smiljan Radic. It's over 100 square meters. The rent is a bit high, but the price per square meter is only one-fifth of the first place I lived in. I just found out that it has two sets of bedrooms and showers. You can also use the parking lot, so please come and visit by car! (laughs)

サンチアゴは小さな街。空港に着いた時、二日目に買い物していた時にいきなり声をかけられて焦った。最近では自転車に乗った男性に手を振られた。あの人誰と横にいた助手に聞くとあなたの知り合いの〇〇だよという。サングラスしているので分からない。今日は信号待ちしていると女性から I am your studentと言われて狼狽える。名前が思い出せない。 ロベルトにアジア人の顔をは皆同じに見えると言われた。ヨーロッパ系の顔が皆同じに見えるとは言わないけれど、違いが明確になるには少々、名前と顔が一致するには相当時間がかかる。 Santiago is a small city. When I arrived at the airport, and again on the second day while I was shopping, I was suddenly approached by someone, which startled me. More recently, a man on a bicycle waved at me. I asked my assistant who was next to me, "Who is that person?" and she said, "That's so-and-so, someone you know." I couldn't recognize him because he was wearing sunglasses. Today, while waiting at a traffic light, a woman said to me, "I am your student," and I was flustered. I couldn't remember her name. Roberto told me that all Asian faces look the same to him. I wouldn't say that all European faces look the same, but it takes some time to clearly distinguish the differences, and even longer to match names with faces.

スミルハンの家に引越前に、6年くらい前に来たスミルハンがリノベしたプレコロンビアン博物館を再訪。スミルハン建築も展示も実に興味深い。Antes de mudarme a la casa de Smilhan, visité el Museo Precolombino, que él había renovado, por primera vez en seis años. Tanto la arquitectura como las exposiciones de Smilhan me parecieron muy interesantes.
