中学同級生の東大言語学教授の森芳樹の最終講義に同期生が集まる。建築と言語学はかなり近しいがやはり建築がかじる言語学と「言語学」はだいぶ違う。勉強になりました。 Classmates gather at the final lecture by Mori Yoshiki, a junior high school classmate and professor of linguistics at the University of Tokyo. Architecture and linguistics are quite close, but linguistics, which is cleverly clever, are quite different from linguistics, which architecture cleverly. I learned a lot.

6月に北大、北海道科学大、室蘭工大にレクチャー、集中講義に行く。飛行機やら、ホテルの手配してたら半日潰れた。なかなか時間感覚が掴めず慣れた外国行くより不安。In June, I will be giving lectures and intensive lectures to Hokkaido University, Hokkaido University of Science and Technology, and Muroran Institute of Technology. I was arranging for an airplane and a hotel and I spent half a day. I can't get a sense of time and feel anxious, almost more worried than going abroad.

Unfortunately!!Colomina's postwar analysis of America and Wigley's New Babylon seems interesting too. Has anyone read it?

恩師D.B.Stewart のアンソロジーを出版すべく打ち合わせ。本当は彼の名著The Making of Modern Japanese Architectureを翻訳したいがそれは置いておいて（彼の英語とびきり難しい）一年後の出版を目指して始動。We met to publish an anthology of our mentor D.B. Stewart. I actually want to translate his famous book The Making of Modern Japanese Architecture, but leaving that aside (it's extremely difficult in his English) and started with the aim of publishing a year later.

JIAマガジン3/15号は拙宅をインタビューして頂きました。運動と風景と名づけた由縁をお話しました。先ほど届きました。I had my house interview for issue 3/15 of JIA Magazine. I talked about the reason why it was named "movement and landscape." It arrived today.

ジムを出たら大雪。今日は八潮市行って開発アドバイスするけど雪はしんどいなあ。It snows heavily when I left the gym. Today I'll go to Yashio City and give them some development advice, but the snow is tough.

最後の卒業式は感慨深い。20年間教師をやってこれたのは何故だったのかと思えば彼らから多くのことを学べたからだと思う。教師と生徒というのは制度的なことでしかなくて、人間としては対等に付き合ってきたし、教えたことと同じくらい教えてもらった。この大学とはこれで一区切りで、これからはまた違うところで教えるけれど、ここまで教えてもらったことに心よりありがとうと言いたい。そんな学生と別れるのは一抹の寂しさがある。でもこれが人生かもしれない。 The last graduation ceremony was very moving. When I think about why I was able to be a teacher for 20 years, I think it's because I was able to learn so much from them. The teacher-student relationship is only an institutional one, but as human beings we have interacted as equals, and they have taught me as much as I have taught them. This is my last time at this university, and I will be teaching somewhere else from now on, but I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the teachings I have received so far. I feel a little sad to say goodbye to such students. But maybe this is life.

最終ゼミ懇親会最後の坂本一成のスピーチは毒に満ちたものだった。TPOに関係なく、あるいは計算ずくで毒づのは「先生」の特権だし、年取った弟子からすればもはや先生以外に毒は期待できないし、この年になっても先生の言葉はありかたいなと思った。明日は卒業式だから少しは毒を振りまくかな。 Sakamoto Kazunari's final speech at the final seminar social gathering was full of toxicity. Regardless of the TPO or even calculations, poisoning is the privilege of a "teacher," and as an older disciple, it is no longer possible to expect poison from anyone other than the teacher, and I thought the teacher's words would be a great opportunity to do so even at this age. 坂牛は知の使い方がわかりやすく、ひけらかさないと加藤耕一さんに褒められた。親父が定時制高校生に酒飲みながらマルクスを解らせた話術のDNAが遺伝したのだろう。わからない哲学に価値はないし、伝わらない建築も悲しいものだ。しかしポピュリズムはもっと酷い。その隙間が表現と言うものだ。Sakaushi’s way of using knowledge is easy to understand, and Professor Kato Koichi praised me for not showing off my knowledge. It must have been inherited from the DNA of the storytelling technique that my father helped students understand Marx while drinking with high school student. There is no value in philosophy that you don't understand, and architecture that doesn't convey it is sad. But populism is even worse. That gap is what you call an expression.
