ジャズ好きのアルベルトが村上春樹のジャズの本読んだことあるかと聞く。ないよと言うと、では小沢征爾との対談はと言うのでそれなら読んだと答えた。今日本屋でその本があったので思わず買った。この本を毎日2ページ読むと来年リマに来るまでには読み終わる。読んだことのある村上春樹なら読めるのではなかろうか。Alberto, a jazz fan, asked me if I had read any of Murakami Haruki's jazz books. こっちの学生の製図の中間試験を一昨日やった。先生4人で学生1人１時間かけてやる。6人を午前3人、午後3人レビューした。全先生が7点満点で採点して平均点を出す4点以下で落第。その点を夕方全員の前で全員に伝える。めちゃシビア。自分が何番目か分かる。そして、これが最終ではなく、中間であることに驚く。彼らはここでもらったコメントもとに来学期仕上げる。そして同様の試験を7月頭にやり、そこでまた落第も現れる。さらにそこでのコメントを頼りに最終の仕上げを2ヶ月かけて行い、9月に最終試験を受ける。 今年9月に最終試験をみせてもらったけど、合格の点数を言い渡されるとみなさん歓喜に満ちた表情。部屋の外で待ち構えている友人たちの祝福に包まれていた。その時は何がそんなに嬉しいのかと思ったけれど。そのプロセスを知るとその気持ちはよく分かる。来年までに僕のスタジオの学生のプロジェクトが成長することを願ってやまない。帰国後は毎週夜中のズームで指導するが重責だなと思う。 The students here took their studio midterm exams the day before yesterday. Now that I understand the process, I understand why they feel that way. I sincerely hope that the projects of the students in my studio will grow by next year. 4ヶ月前に完成したチリ大学のクラシック専用のホールにチリ国立管弦楽団を聞きに来た。クセナキスを初めてホールで聞いた。なかなかいいね。ブラームスもいい響きでした。開演まで時間があり通りのベンチで来場する素敵な2人連れをパチリ。

設計製図はセミスターごとに試験があり、二人の教授が来て1人1時間かけて議論する。2人は採点表に7点満点の点数を記入し、担当教員の私とマルセロも合議でセミスター通じての点と今日のプレゼンの点を入れアベレージを出す。4点以下だと落第となる。とても厳しい。There is an exam for design and drafting every semester, and two professors come and spend an hour discussing each student.
