警視庁に行って無犯罪証明書を申請した。申請には先方からのインビテーションがいる。 朝届いたインビテーションにはこう書いてある。 「あなたは修士課程カリキュラムのリサーチ・プロジェクト・スタジオ、およびアドバンス科目を担当する教授として招かれます。あなたの役割は、授業の指導、学生との学術活動の調整、 そして学術コミュニティにおける議論や学問分野の発展への参加です。さらに、あなたの訪問に は、学部および学科へのあなたの研究成果の発表、学術交流の促進、そして本学の国際的な つながりの強化を目的とした普及活動も含まれます」と書いてあった。初めて自分の役割を知って少し身が引き締まる。

数年前チリカトリカ大で1週間のワークショップした時、優秀なTAが2人いて2週間前からイントロ課題を出してレビューすると言う分厚い教育体制に驚いた。今回座学とスタジオを担当するが、座学は二コマ連続で、やはりTAが既にあてがわれており準備の注文をして良いと言われている。しかも学生数は10人以下が保証されている。それはスタジオも同じで、建築家が2人つき学生は8人と言うスタジオが７-８こ準備される。 建築学科が組織上学部として独立しているところは日本でもちらほら見かける。加えて建物が独立しているところも稀にある。しかしキャンパスが独立しているところは滅多にない。チリカトリカは数世紀前の建築のリノベにアラベナなどが増築して今に至る独立キャンパスだ。世界的にみてソフトもハードもかなり良くできた建築スクールである。A few years ago, when we had a one-week workshop at Chile Catholic University, I was surprised by the thick educational system where two excellent TAs were able to present intro assignments and review them for two weeks. パリが40度を超えたと言うニュースを聞いて、1984年夏バーゼルの設計事務所でバイトをしていた時を思い出した。やはり40度を超える日が何日もあった。事務所はお休み、人々はあまり綺麗には見えないライン川に飛び込んでいた。 When I heard the news that In Paris it had exceeded 40 degrees, I remembered the time I was working part-time at a Basel design office in summer 1984. If the community is the place where the vital rhythms of its various members converge, idiorrhythmy would be the possibility of establishing a personal rhythm for one's own life, a deliberate and conscious rhythm, intertwined with external circumstances and vital needs, but not exclusively defined by them. We could understand rhythm as a regular succession of events, an ordered movement, and architecture as the possibility of ordering, and highlighting, that movement. The cognition of architecture is also affected, and defined, by movement. People perceive buildings through their senses of sight, touch, and hearing. There are two types of cognition: a static perception and a moving perception. The first is the perception of modernism, that is, the perception of the camera. We will focus on the second, more contemporary, but also related to the long history, through the concept of kinesthesia, the sensation of movement. Kinesthesia is related to historical customs and conventional behavior, which can be learned. The studio is an invitation to reflect on the relationships between community, rhythm, and movement, understanding the "house" (in its broadest sense) as the first place where these relationships are revealed.

旧富士銀行をコンバートしたホテルに泊まった。天井が高いのはかなりの付加価値だと再認識。I stayed at a hotel that was converted from the former Fuji Bank building. I was reminded that high ceilings are indeed a great added value.
