カトリカ大学の大学院でやっているコンクリートに表情をつける演習。ニット型枠は最近開発されてます。ファッションデザイナーと建築家がコラボして内装がニット型枠顕しとなる日も近いか？An exercise to put on expressions on concrete, which is done at Catholic University's graduate school. Knit formwork has been developed recently. Will the day be soon when fashion designers and architects collaborate to express the interior knit formwork?

パウラからもう一つ演習を頼まれた。9月末から２ヶ月で行う５単位の建築理論コース。１２人くらいに絞るから、徹底してライティングさせて欲しいという。させるのはいいが、させたら読まなければならない。それは結構しんどいだろうなあ。と思いつつ。一体どんなことを書けるのか興味深いので引き受けた。It's a two-month, five-credit course on architectural theory starting at the end of September. She said she'd narrow it down to about 12 students, so she wanted me to write thoroughly. It's fine to ask them to do it, but if they do, I'll have to read them. That's going to be pretty tough, I thought. But interested in what kind of things they will be able to write, I accepted.

大学裏の公園を少し登るとアンデスがよく見える。ついでに山に囲まれたサンチアゴ名物の淀んだ空気も。If you climb a little into the park behind the university, you can see the Andes clearly. Also, there is the stagnant atmosphere of Santiago's specialty, surrounded by mountains.

食材の買い物に出たら面白いモールを発見。中野のブロードウェイみたい。I went grocery shopping and discovered an interesting mall. It looked like Nakano's Broadway.

三菱のクレジットカードはセキュリティがきつくて海外来ると通らないケース続出。切符の支払いから少し高額なスーパーの支払いまですストップされる。本人確認メールが来て制限解除を依頼するけど使えるまで下手すると数時間かかる。 海外使用の最初はいいけど、その後は止めてくれるな。

今日から大学院のディプロマスタジオが始まる。7人中6人女性。今年は女性が多いと言っていたが本当に多い。僕とマルセロの課題「一緒に住む」を1年間考え続けて修士設計に仕立てるのである。僕は次のセミスターはズームで指導する。The graduate school diploma studio starts today. Six out of seven students are women. They said there were a lot of women this year, and there really are. Marcelo and I have been thinking about the theme of "living together" for a year, and we will be working on it for a year to turn it into a master's design. I will be teaching the next semester via Zoom.

僕のアパートの前の劇場で１４、１５とバレーが演じられるのだが、よく見ると日本の金子扶生さんが主役。イギリスのロイヤルバレーから招待されている。A ballet will be performed at the theater in front of my apartment on the 14th and 15th, and if you look closely you'll see that the leading role is played by Fumi Kaneko of Japan, who has been invited from the Royal Ballet of England.

建築棟の2階に小さなオフィスを貸与され、アシスタントのイグナシオが授業、スタジオ、飛行機の予約、DHLまで手伝ってくれている。最初の講義は2コマ連続。2時間半。楽しいなあ、皆目がキラキラしている。ここはトップ校だからさぼる人はいない。単位の取りやすさで履修するなんてことはないとイグナシオは言う。イントロダクションだけど皆ガチでノート取ってるのには驚く。教えがいあるなあ。 A small office is given and assistant Ignacio helps with classes, studios, flight bookings and even DHL. The first lecture was two consecutive sessions. Two and a half hours. It's fun, everyone's eyes are sparkling. This is a top school, so no one skips. Ignacio says that there is nobody to select courses because they can get credits easier. Today I spoke an introduction of my course but I'm surprised that everyone is taking notes seriously. There's a lot of things I want to teach.

カトリカ建築学部の出版局がキャンパス内にある。そこでは年3回建築雑誌ARQがバイリンガルで作られている（ここが重要）。最新号は「アメリカという地域」マックスの新作（チリアカタマ砂漠の地域美術館）からブラジルのバイオファクトリー、地域の自律性を作るココナッツ集積所。学部が出版局持っているのもすごいが、この雑誌すでに119号まで（40年以上）出ているのに驚く。The Catholic School of Architecture has a publishing house on campus. It publishes the architecture magazine ARQ three times a year , which is bilingual (this is important). The latest issue is titled "American Territories," and covers topics ranging from Max's new work (a regional art museum in Acatama Desert) ,a bio-factory in Brazil and a coconut dump that fosters regional autonomy. It's impressive that the school has its own publishing house, and it's also surprising that the magazine has already published 119 issues (over 40 years).
