O.F.D.A. Associates is a design office founded in 1998 by architect Taku Sakaushi. The name is derived from the initial abbreviation meaning “an office for diverse architects,” a place where architects working individually can share their work. The firm started as an architectural unit of Taku Sakaushi + Chika Kijima + Hiroyuki Ito, and has been operating from a shared office in Yotsuya, Tokyo.

Since 2016, we have been working on regional revitalization from an architectural perspective in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, working with the government and local organizations to renovate many vacant houses and create basic plans. Just before the coronavirus outbreak, we set up a satellite office in Fujiyoshida City, and have been working on a community-based design consulting business that goes beyond just architectural design.

In 2023, Sakaushi formed D.A. with Hirofumi Nakagawa as a partner, Tamon Kotsu, and Yuki Kato. D.A. aims to be diverse and unique without being restricted by location or profession, and engages in creative activities that make the most of each individual’s abilities.
